A closer look

This Stanford commencement collection moves through rows of caps and gowns, the procession and the celebration around it. Individual expressions sit within the scale of a shared milestone.

What connects the photographs

A diploma portrait tells one part of graduation; a smile between seated graduates tells another. The sequence gives space to both the formal occasion and the personal interactions around it.

Inside the images

Three things to notice

01

Rows of graduates establish the shared occasion.

02

Expressions between friends bring the scale back to individuals.

03

Diploma and celebration photographs give the sequence a sense of completion.

How this approach could work for you

For milestone event photography, I would identify the essential ceremony moments and the people a client most wants to remember, then build room for candid connections.

Before a session, we can talk through what you need the photographs to communicate, where they will be used and the moments that matter most. From there, we can shape a shot list and a pace that fit the project.
